To the Cabin Club

Thank you so much for creating this little piece of paradise for others to enjoy. Especially those have experienced the pleasures of living lakeside in a cottage before. Just the right blend of rusticity and modern day creature comforts! It was a little trip down memory lane for our family. Our children are grown and married. But they still have that affinity for the outdoors and nature's blessings. Can't beat those sunsets.

Once again, we must thank you for sharing your beautiful lakeside retreat with us. Such great memories and we are already looking forward to next summer. We all need something to look forward to in these uncertain times! Here’s hoping that we all manage to stay healthy through the winter. It’s not about accumulating things anymore – it’s about accumulating memories. We are attaching a few of our favorite photos – not that you haven’t seen it all before – but just wanted to relay our particular experience.

This is one of my favorite poems and pretty much sums up what we took from our time at The Cabin Club:

The Peace of Wild Things

When despair grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound

So Where Do I Start?!

I am so glad I found you guys and you were able to accommodate us and our friends and can't forget our dogs! An awesome week of celebrating which my husband has dubbed " THE BEST BIRTHDAY EVER". The comments over and over were how awesome the cabin and property is. I'll speak for our friends they had the best time here as well. So comfortable, so relaxing, they couldn't get enough of the cabin, the deck, the dock and the cabana! So great so romantic even being woken up by a squirrel jumping on the bed in the morning best story ever! We hope this can be a yearly thing for us so we will see you again!

Great Getaway-Excellent!

Debbie and all, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at your wonderful lakeside retreat. We have many friends and family with birthdays in early June so we were able to host some great dinners for them. Our daughter goes east for more Uni in the fall and she was able to make some great memories with several friends at the cabin and the cabana. Everyone had a great time canoeing, fishing, swimming, playing games in front of the fire. Even the dog guests had a great time. It was all so good and so comfortable. Thanks so much.

Another amazing holiday

We had another amazing holiday at your cabin. We love it there so much. The week just didn't feel long enough. I'm looking ahead to next summer as I know you guys book up fast. We'd love to do two consecutive weeks next summer and we're hoping for mid August. Would this be possible?

A memory which will last a lifetime

My family and I want to thank you for giving us a memory which will last a lifetime. This summer was our first “go to the lake “experience as a family. Your cabin could not have been better. The kids loved the long narrow driveway that led us down to the cabin. My wife and I loved the cabin. And everyone loved the deck, the dock and the cabana. Yes, we did have perfect weather during our stay but I am looking forward to coming back in September just to have coffee in the morning and enjoy the view. Thank you again for sharing your family jewel with our family.

The cabin is excellent! The deck is really, really beautiful. We spent many hours there, enjoying the view and the sunshine. The cabin has everything to make a stay very comfortable: the dishes, glasses, cutlery, utensils, bedding, towels, microwave, coffeemaker, kettle, BBQ – all excellent! The beds are very comfortable! The fireplace is so cozy for those evenings when it was cool and rainy. The location of the cabin, being away from the main road, is great too. We loved the dock and sunny lounge area. Everything is so well thought out. We did not spend much time in the cabana; although in the 3rd week, Bill started to take afternoon naps there (after our various cycling expeditions). We spent a lot of time at the Kinsol Trestle and the trail north of it. We enjoyed that trail as well as the one along the West side of Shawnigan Lake. We also went to the “Last Spike” for a daily walk with the dog. As well, we enjoyed spending time at the Shawnigan Lake Museum and learning about the history of the area. In total, we visited 6 wineries and took our time at each one. We also ended up ordering some free-range lamb and chickens from 2 local farms. Barb and Cathy were wonderful hosts!

We sincerely hope that others take good care of your precious property and that it stays in your family for many more generations. It is indeed unique for a family to cooperate on such an endeavor.

We all had such a wonderful stay at the cabin. We had the best of weather (perhaps for the entire month) and appreciated having such a beautiful spot to relax for a couple of days. We surely hope to be back. I looked at your calendar and I see you get a lot of bookings. I'll make sure to plan ahead the next time. We were very lucky to find an opening. The deck, by the way, with the closed sides was so perfect for our dogs. They were happy to romp in the lake (VERY) but when we were not with them there it was perfect to keep them tucked around us and still be outside listening to the birds. Best to you and Barb. Little Spot of Paradise!

So glad we found your little spot of paradise! What can we say everything is great and so thought out to the smallest details. The closed in deck is incredible for the dog and kids helping to make it so much safer and relaxing. Then there is all the different chairs tables hammock and that incredible cabana. So thankful we got to share your place and have good memories but even more importantly we had no worries, tranquillity and feel ready to back to reality. So lucky that you gave us an opportunity to use it.

Perfect get away!

Had a wonderful stay at The Cabin Club! Very clean, comfortable, and views like no other! We really enjoyed good fishing off the dock and the peace and quiet was just what the doctor ordered! We will definitely be back:)

A magical place in so many ways!! The cabin is perfect, the swimming so relaxing and the little cabana provides sleep much needed! A place that reminds us of our own cottage in Quebec we went to for 30 years. Thank you for sharing this very special cabin with us. We have already booked for next year and can hardly wait to be Back.

Top notch property, something for just about anyone.

We stayed for nearly a month on and off, different people coming and going. The owners were right next door and very accommodating and yet laid back without being intrusive in the slightest. Huge wrap around covered deck to trap your little ones (pets & kids). So much to do around Shawnigan, we are from Victoria and there are still places that we haven't checked out yet. Or just swim and boat all day, every day off the dock. Beautiful sunsets every night, everyone had a nice time.

Lovely lakeside escape

Our family of three took the cabin for a week in July. It's a truly lovely home from home - comfortable and well appointed, incredible lakeside views and a wonderful location. The dock on the lake is wonderful for swimming and boating from, the lakeside bunkie is a spectacular place for an afternoon nap or an overnighter, and the cabin is lovely and cozy. There was quite a lot of boat and water-skiing traffic on the lake, particularly at the weekend, but it wasn't a problem, and if you're into that sort of thing, it's likely a big plus. The hosts were wonderfully accommodating, punctual and couldn't have been more helpful. An all around success.

A wonderful week

We had a wonderful week, despite the cool June weather. Our dogs were delighted to meet Coola from next door and loved spending their days on the deck and in the lake. The cabana was perfect for afternoon siestas and the fireplace was appreciated on a rainy Friday afternoon. The kitchen was perfect! We are not looking forward to leaving tomorrow, and hope to come back next year. All the best.

William got into the spice cupboard once or twice. The boys really enjoyed the place as well, and thank god for the gated patio. William is still a toddler, and it would have been really hard keeping him gated in otherwise.
