SHAWNIGAN LAKE SEASONAL CLIMATE 

Shawnigan Lake's climate is classified as warm and temperate. The winter months are much rainier than the summer months. According to Köppen and Geiger, this climate is classified as Csb. The average temperature in Shawnigan Lake is 8.9 °C. The rainfall here averages 1193 mm. It is part of Electoral Area B in the Cowichan Valley Regional District.

The population is approximately 8,000 and it doubles during the summer.   Shawnigan lake is a popular recreation destination, as the lake and village are summer vacation spots for residents of Victoria, who commute between the city while staying in their summer cabins.

Victoria has the lowest rainfall and the most sunshine recorded of any West Coast region. Shawnigan Lake is only a short 30 to 40 minute drive north of Victoria and because of its higher elevation the winters are colder andhave more rain than Victoria. 

Average daytime temperatures range from 22 C° / 71° F in July to 7° C / 45° F in December.
